Preparations for the 2017 Miss Tourism Zimbabwe have started as the nation seeks to position itself as a safe and viable destination.
The 2017 edition of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe in December will bring expectations of increased participation by tourism service providers.
The patron of the event, Mrs Barbara Mzembi confirmed to the ZBC News resources are being mobilised to ensure it becomes a success.
“We are happy with the progress so far and we hope it will unlock more value,” said Mrs Mzembi.
One of the sponsors of the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, Mr Justice Maphosa said the corporate world should take a lead in promoting the tourism sector image of the country.
“We really are going to do our best for the sake of developing the key facets of this nation,” Mr Maphosa said.
The government has also given approval to organisers of the event in line with the need to promote tourism, said Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive officer, Dr Karikoga Kaseke.
“It is our right to do and we are happy over such an initiative for the sake of the industry at large,” he said.
This year’s Miss Tourism Zimbabwe will be held under the theme, “Sustainable Tourism for Development”.
