High Court Judge Justice, Erica Ndewere has postponed the bail application appeal by Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Prisca Mupfumira to the 5th of August.

Defence Lawyer, Advocate Lewis Uriri had argued that there is no reason to deny his client bail because it is a constitutional right.

He also added that the state has failed to provide tangible evidence to deny Mupfumira bail.

State Prosecutor, Ms Sharon Fero argued that the applicant has not filed a proper appeal which is enough to deny bail.

She added the state needs room to make submissions in relation to compelling reasons for denying bail and also wait for the ZACC investigators to come before the court to testify.

Advocate Uriri responded to the submissions raised by Ms Fero, arguing that there was no need to call or wait for the investigators to court since their affidavits have been filed on the records proceedings.

However, Justice Ndewere ruled that the court is dealing with an unusual case and postponed the bail application to the 5th of August.

Minister Mupfumira is allegedly facing 7 counts of criminal abuse of office as public officer involving $95 million NSSA funds.
