Energy and Power Development Minister, Mr Elton Mangoma has allegedly side-lined the ZESA Board and Management and made an independent decision to reverse the pre-payment meters tender awarded to a local company in favour of a South African based company.
Investigations by ZBC News allege that the minister preferred a South African company linked to his son ahead of a local supplier.
Of major concern is that the metering system in question is expensive and has never been used in Africa.
Other allegations against the minister are that he wanted the public to buy the meters when all along they had remained the property of ZESA.
Earlier on, Minister Mangoma allegedly had a misunderstanding with the board and management of other parastatals under his ministry.
Observers say the government should intervene in the installation of the pre-paid meters.         Â
