The new Mashonaland-Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Cde Monica Mavhunga has pledged to focus on revamping the provincial economy to enhance its contribution to the national fiscus.
Speaking during a handover and takeover ceremony with former minister Advocate Martin Dinha, Cde Mavhunga said the plethora of local resources must be exploited for the benefit of the national economy.
“I wish to thank my predecessor Advocate Martin Dinha for his tremendous work at the helm of the province. I’m well aware that Mash-Central is anchored on agriculture, mining and other economic activities. My vision is to uplift and develop the economic contribution of the economy to the GDP and fully exploit our resources for the benefit of our people with the devolution agenda,” she said.
Advocate Dinha commended President Emmerson Mnangagwa for taking a strong stance over gender equity and pledged to give support where there is need.
“I thank His Excellency Cde ED Mnangagwa who is also a visionary leader who took into cognisance the efficacy of gender balance in the leadership of the country. It is indisputable fact that the new dispensation has heralded positive versatility in terms of inclusive leadership and development. As Mashonaland Central we highly believe in team work and as much my arms are widely open for support to the minister and the province at large,” he said.
Minister Mavhunga who takes over from Advocate Dinha is a liberation cadre well versed with the development needs of the province through her experience in the Zanu PF Commissariat.
