The Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Cde Mandi Chimene has commended progressive non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for rallying behind government programmes which have changed lives of the rural communities.
Addressing stakeholders who gathered in Sakubva, Mutare for the Silver Jubilee of the Diocese of Mutare Community Care Programme (DOMCCP), Cde Chimene said NGOs should partner the government in championing the socio-economic transformation programmes to better the lives of citizens.
DOMCCP Board Chairman, Cde Misheck Mugadza pledged his organisation’s commitment to work with the government in advancing rural development.
The organisation has so far constructed 14 classroom blocks that are now accommodating 2430 primary school pupils in Odzi and Mutare’s Hobhouse suburb.
Over 1500 students are also being assisted by the church based NGO, which pays their school fees.
