This was said by the Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere.

After receiving recommendations made by sector specific committees in Harare, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere said the mining sector will be the first to be addressed in the implementation of the Act, while the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange will also be used as a vehicle of empowerment.

The National Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Board chairman, Cde David Chapfika, said the 51%-49% threshold can only be altered with the discretion of the Minister.

Despite all the hype in some media reports pronouncing Zimbabwe as an unsafe destination in terms of investment, the country has seen an influx of investors seeking business opportunities especially in the mining sector.
