COSAFA Champions, Zimbabwe’s Mighty warriors will take their regional war with neighbours Banyana Banyana of South Africa to a continental level after the two teams were drawn in the same group at the All Africa Games, which run between September 3 to 18 in Maputo, Mozambique.
In a draw conducted this Tuesday at the CAF Headquarters in Egypt, Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors have been put in Group A together with South Africa, Tanzania and Ghana.
Group B has Cameroon, Guinea, Algeria and hosts Mozambique.
Zimbabwe has already faced Tanzania, whom they knocked out of the COSAFA Cup in the semi-finals after a penalty shoot-out.
Ghana appears to be the strongest side in the group.
In the men’s game, South Africa who booted out Zimbabwe’s Young Warriors to qualify for the games have been put in a relatively easier group and will face Libya, Madagascar and hosts Mozambique in Group A.
Group B appears to be the Group of Death as giants Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal and impressive Uganda, who blasted Kenya 5-1 away from home before the Young Harambee Stars pulled out of the return leg.
