A 25-member squad trooped into camp to begin preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which will set the peddle rolling with a crunch tie against Botswana on the 14th of January.

After concerns of weight gains during the Christmas break, team doctor, Margret Maulani, shared joy over the fitness of the players.

While their fitness will not be a bother, it will be a contest for positions that is likely to be on focus as two players are vying for places in the team for the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the Mighty Warriors’ friendly international against Malawi has been cancelled.

ZIFA confirmed that Malawi has indicated that they are not able to host their Zimbabwean counterparts, meaning that Zimbabwe will go into their match against Botswana without a preparatory friendly match.

Botswana has vastly improved and recently shocked South Africa 1-nil in their own backyard.

A victory over Botswana will see the Mighty Warriors facing Nigeria.
