morgan-tsvangirai1.jpgIn a development that has left many questions unanswered, the MDC-T is understood to be working on a reshuffle of some of its ministers.

According to sources, the reshuffle was expected to be announced at a news conference at Harvest House this afternoon, but was called off to allow the MDC-T Leadership to complete the exercise.

Although the MDC-T sources say the reshuffle is aimed at giving other members of the party the opportunity to occupy senior posts, most onlookers believe the exercise is aimed at weeding out MDC-T leader, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai’s opponents, in view of the current power struggle against the party’s Secretary-general, Mr Tendai Biti.

The MDC-T camp has in recent weeks been rocked by a power struggle ahead of the party’s congress next year.

Secretary-general Biti is said to be angling to take over leadership of the formation after the expiry of Mr. Tsvangirai’s two terms at the helm of the party.

The Tsvangirai faction is however understood to be working to amend the party’s constitution, to allow Mr Tsvangirai another term in office, a move strongly opposed by the Biti faction.
