mdc youth.jpgThe MDC-T party has hired thugs to man the party’s 12th anniversary commemorations this Saturday, ignoring law enforcement agents such as the police in a move which analysts say is a sign that the party is in a mood for violence.

Speaking to journalists at the party’s headquarters in the capital, MDC-T Organising Secretary, Mr. Nelson Chamisa said the party has lost confidence in the law enforcement agents and therefore has decided to hire its own private security.

However, the hired personnel have no training in public order, giving credence to assertions that the party is preparing for violence and has hired people who will do the fighting.

Speaking in a telephone interview with ZBC News, Harare Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector James Sabau said police will be out in full force to harness eventualities that might characterise the anniversary.

During the run up to the formation’s congress early this year, the MDC-T party was involved in a number of violent scenes of intra-party fighting and analysts have questioned the ability of the party to control its supporters who have a traceable history of violence.
