prime minister morgan richard tsvangirai.jpgThe Movement for Democratic Change MDC-T says while it is celebrating eleven years of existence, the party has a lot of work to do in fulfilling some of its promises to the majority of its supporters.    

 

The comments by MDC-T comes at a time the party is celebrating its 11th annivesary as a political party having been formed in September 1999.   

Speaking at a public lecture meant to reflect on the party progress since its launch and the implementation of the Global Political Agreement , MDC-T President Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai said, while a lot has been done in strengthening the party structures more needs to be done in fulfilling the party’s promises to the majority of the populace.

 
tendai biti finance 29-08-10.jpgSpeaking at the same occasion, the party’s Secretary General Mr. Tendai Biti who chronicled the party’s history from 1999 to date said the party leadership remains committed to the ideals and principles of the founding leaders.

 
The Movement for Democratic Change was launched on the 11th of September 1999 and split into two formations in 2005 after differences over participation in senatorial elections.

 
The two formations are the MDC-T led by Morgan Tsvangirai and the MDC-M led by Professor Arthur Mutambara.

 

The MDC-T is expected to hold its congress next year amid reports that party president Mr Tsvangirai is angling for another term after the expiry of his mandatory two terms in office. Secretary General Biti is however reported to be against the amendment of the constitution.
