Today the people of Gutu in Masvingo and Mashonaland Central are bidding farewell to the late National Heroine Mbuya Maud Muzenda and national hero Cde George Rutanhire, respectively.
A farewell parade is underway in Gutu before the body departs for Harare in preparation for burial at National Heroes Acre tomorrow.
People in Gutu have gathered at Paradise Park Grounds to bid farewell to Mbuya Muzenda.
Mbuya Muzenda was the wife of the late national hero and Vice President Dr Simon Muzenda and she died on Tuesday at the Avenues Clinic in Harare at the age of 88.
Mbuya Muzenda died on Tuesday at the Avenues Clinic, in Harare.
In Mashonaland Central, a church service for the late national hero Cde George Rutanhire is underway.
Cde Rutanhire died of renal failure at Karanda Mission Hospital in Mt Darwin last Saturday.
A former member of parliament for Mt Darwin as early as 1985, Cde Rutanhire was senior member of the ZANLA general staff and former commissariat director in both ZANLA and Zanu.
Tomorrow it will be another double burial at the national shrine as both Mbuya Muzenda and Cde Rutanhire will be interred at the National Heroes Acre.
In April last year, national heroines Cdes Vivian Mwashita and Fikile Victoria Chitepo were interred at the national shrine on the same day, at the same time.
