Harare based mbira player Luanda Lunyawo says she is passionate with the mbira instrument and her desire is to one day record her own works.
Lunyawo’s love for mbira began way back during her primary school days where she would smuggle the instrument into school and self taught herself how to play it much to the disapproval of her parents.
Today she boasts of many lyrics some still in their written form and among these are ‘Ndichauya Kumusha’, ‘Amai na Baba’ and ‘Shamwari’.
Now in her twenties Luanda looks at the many songs she has penned in Shona, Ndebele and English and says her biggest desire is to have the music recorded.
A confident and with a soulful voice Luanda says nothing will stop her from realising her dreams and for now the stage will be where she will show her expertise.
