The district of Mberengwa had to address concerns of unfair team selection a day before the commencement of its training camp in preparation for the provincial youth games.
District secretary for the youth games said when previous competitions were held to select the team that will contest at provincial level, the selectors were picking top performers and not winning teams.
Sports and Recreation Minister, Makhosini Hlongwane has also weighed in on the matter saying the whole process was about individual talent selection and not winning teams.
The team goes into camp tomorrow at Mbuya Nehanda School.
Some of the concerns raised are that more athletes or players should have been picked up from the teams which won at ward level.
The provincial youth games next week commence before the National Youth Games explode in the second week of August in Hwange.
