Small scale chrome miners in Mberengwa South are locked in a vicious struggle with officials from the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and buyers of the mineral.
The miners are aggrieved and they accuse the buyer of fleecing them, taking months to pay and not using correct weights due to a non functional weigh bridge.
Allegations are that while over $300 000 has been paid to purchase the ore, the miners are still owed more.
An official from the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ), Ms Georgina confirmed that the buyer deposited $300 000 to purchase 500 metric tonnes.
As it stands, the chrome was delivered on estimates.
The weighing was done at the port at Beira in Mozambique.
Along the way, small scale miners, the communities local leadership and the buyer are all crying foul.
The complication now is money paid was for 5 000 tonnes but to the buyer, only 3800 tonnes of chrome ore were delivered.
