Mazowe constituency this weekend held its inter-constituency youth games at Nzvimbo High School to select a team to represent the province during the forthcoming expanded Zimbabwe National Youth Games for the youths aged 23 and below.
The games attracted youths from all the districts in the four Mazowe constituencies; Central, North, West and South, which competed in volleyball, football, netball and handball.
The games began at the ward level in June and moved up to the current district level and later to the constituency level with talented youths being selected for the various disciplines to represent Mashonaland Central Province scheduled for the last week of July and early August before going onto the national competition.
The youths were competing for places in the Mashonaland Central Youth Games team which is expected to compete at the annual Zimbabwe National Youth Games which have now been expanded from eight to 22 different sporting disciplines and will now have an under 23 age limit up from the previous 20.
Some of the sporting disciplines include athletics and boxing where there appears to be a low uptake at ward and district levels as well as pool and darts, among others.
