The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) is mulling the establishment of legal statute to govern the industry in line with the association’s vision of creating a vibrant marketing sector.

The growth of the marketing industry over the past few years has necessitated the adoption of a legal statute to govern the industry.

According to MAZ, the industry has prioritised the enactment of a law to govern the sector.

MAZ executive secretary Gillian Rusike said members of the association attending the ongoing 2017 MAZ Convention will among other things deliberate on the state of the industry and the road map towards the crafting of the legal statute.

The 2017 convention which will be officially opened by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr Mike Bimha was high on the agenda with the need to strengthen the marketers’ role in influencing national policy discourse, the future of marketing within the context of digital analytics and digital marketing.

The convention taking place in Victoria Falls runs from the 1st to the 4th of this month and is being held under the theme, “The Changing Face of Marketing: Towards Organisational and Economic Transformation”.
