After training over 40 officials who will officiate at the youth games, NAAZ Director for Competitions, Development and Officials Training, Enias Nhoro said the target was focused mainly on school teachers who will continue cultivating the officiating legacy even after the youth games.
“We can now safely say Matabeleland South has been enriched with almost 50 athletics instructors who can now manage events in that province without assistance from association members. This is a legacy that we want to continue seeing being propagated and we are happy,” said Nhoro.
The 2011 Under 20 National Youth Games will this year be hosted by Matabeleland South Province.
The games that will run from the 13th to the 19th of this month will feature athletics as one of the key Olympic disciplines.
The games have acted as the base for athletes’ development into professional competition.
