The government has undertaken to deal with the issue of illegal settlements on farms in Matabeleland South Province while those fingered in the corrupt allocation of land will be brought to book.

This came out during a Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meeting held in Gwanda today.

Dealing decisively with corruption is among the commitments that the government has made in order to move the country forward and restore investor confidence. 

In Matabeleland South Province, rampant corruption has been reported in the allocation of land, as such immediate action will be taken to redress the problem.

Minister of State for Matabeleland South Province Cde Abednico Ncube who met the PDC today cited the issue of Maleme Ranch in Matobo and Lochard Farm in Insiza saying these will be revisited.

From the civil servants, government expects the full support of its workers in order to turn around the economic fortunes of the country in the shortest possible time.

The implementation of the Translimpopo Spatial Development initiative, the full exploitation of the mineral wealth in the province which include gold and diamonds and reviving the livestock sector have been identified as critical in reviving the province’s economy.

The meeting also discussed the expected visit by the First Lady Cde Auxillia Mnangangwa to Kepieno Ekhaya Children’s Home in Makwe, Gwanda district this Friday.
