Zanu PF Matabeleland North youth wing has started an outreach programme in the province that seeks to drum up support for the party’s First Secretary President Emmerson Mnangagwa ahead of the harmonised elections scheduled for july this year.
Since the provincial launch of the #EDhasmyvote campaign a few weeks ago, the Zanu PF provincial youth leadership has taken the programme to the implementation stage starting with youths in Tsholotsho and Umguza before spreading to other districts.
Zanu PF provincial youth vice chairman Cde Lucky Dube said the campaign which kicked off today, is expected to be completed in all the seven districts by the end of the week and is targeting youths outside the party by way of outlining several achievements accomplished by President Mnangagwa since he assumed office.
“As the youth wing we realised there are many youths who can vote for us including those that are in opposition parties because there are many who want to come to Zanu PF. So that’s why we decided to come up with this programme so that we can boost our numbers,” he explained.
The young people who are currently the worst affected by unemployment are already looking at the speedy realisation of the construction of the Gwayi-Shangani dam and the Bulawayo- Nkayi road, to afford them work opportunities.
