The new tourism brand- Zimbabwe a World of Wonders- that was launched in the country two weeks ago is being launched to the world starting with its showcase in the region.

The Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa (RITOSA) will be used as a platform in the region, while the country will take part in international tourism exhibitions.

In an interview with ZBC News, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Dr Sylvester Maunganidze said a roll out plan and budget have since been put in place to ensure brand Zimbabwe reaches every corner of the world, especially the long haul source markets like France, Britain, Germany and America.

Dr Maunganidze however said central to the new tourism national vision is the need for the sector to invest and appreciate the local people, their identity, religion, spirituality, culture, food and language and repackage them as human facets that take first position in tourism among the natural wonders.

“In the past the tourism sector lost it by taking for granted the warmth of the people and did not invest in the people by instilling in them the love and admiration of their country,” Dr Maunganidze said.

Recent research by the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry has revealed that success in tourism should revolve around the people.

The new tourism brand recently launched is part of the sector’s vision which stipulates that local people should take first position in the world of wonders and that tourism development starts when a nation identifies who they are such that all sectors are repackaged to improve and suit the tourism.
