Researchers and agriculture experts have been challenged to come up with technologies that help farmers overcome the effects of climate change.

The call for researchers to come up with appropriate climate change mitigation technologies was made by Senator Prisca Mupfumira on the occasion of the 71st edition of the Mashonaland West Agricultural Show in Chinhoyi.

She said the weather variability and declining crop productivity is evidence enough that climate change has set in.

Mashonaland West Show Society Chairman Godfrey Mavankeni challenged farmers to explore the export market and produce competitive products through better technologies.

Agriculture expert and Zimbabwe Farmers Union Vice President Berean Mukwende was enthused at the high turn out by exhibitors and the early distribution of inputs to farmers this year.

The show registered an increase in terms of corporate exhibitors from 83 last year to 91 this year.
