Hosts, Mashonaland Central Province scoped the 2017 Zimbabwe National Paralympic Games Championships as the curtain came down on the 10th edition of the games held in Bindura.
The five-day event saw over 820 athletes and officials gracing the sporting festival.
Mashonaland Central claimed the overall first position after amassing 45 medals comprising 24 gold, 15 silver and 6 bronze.
Mashonaland West Province came up second position with 46 medals, 14 of which are gold, 21 silver and 11 bronze, while Masvingo Province came third with 25 medals.
In a speech read on his behalf by Sports and Recreation Commission Board Chairman, Edward Siwela, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Makhosini Hlongwani said the paralympic games remain a government priority .
The Minister of State for Mashonaland Central Province, Advocate Martin Dinha said the games were a resounding success and appealed to the government to adequately fund the event.
Next year’s national paralympics games will be held in the Midlands Province and will run concurrently with the National Youth Games.
