Road authorities in Mashonaland Central are currently seized with the rehabilitation of road infrastructure damaged due to the heavy rains experienced this season.
The heavy rains experienced this season across the country left a trail of destruction on road infrastructure in most parts of Mashonaland Central Province.
The department of roads, District Development Fund (DDF) and Rural District Councils together with the country’s three road authorities are now seized with repairing the damaged road infrastructure.
DDF provincial coordinator in Mashonaland Central Mr Kenny Mutombo says they have a road network of 2 400 km in the province and of this work is already underway to repair 1 513 km and 208 structures damaged.
In Rushinga, the local authority has started rehabilitating the district’s entire 360 km road network while in Mt Darwin, the DDF has already completed the construction Mupamhadze bridge.
Villagers in Rushinga commended the local authority for its efforts in rehabilitating the roads.
In Mashonaland Central Province most of the roads infrastructure damaged by the incessant rains are in the district along the Zambezi Valley namely Muzarabani, Mbire and part of Mt Darwin.
