Mashonaland Central provincial sports associations have bemoaned the existing poor infrastructure as a drawback in the development of sport and called on their mother body to treat all disciplines equally.

The development of sports has been lagging behind especially of minority disciplines due to neglected or absence of infrastructure in some provinces.

This emerged at the provincial sports associations meeting in Bindura where stakeholders called for a robust framework to manage sports development.

Sports and Recreation Commission mandate, sport statutory levies, decentralisation of sport structures, Zimbabwe youth and paralympic games were some of the issues that came under discussion.

Decentralisation of sport structures is vital in the promotion of various disciplines at grassroots level and it should be complemented by funding.
