The Zanu PF Harare Provincial leadership says the late Cde Masawi was a committed and patriotic cadre who worked hard to rejuvenate the party’s structures countrywide.

The Provincial Chairman, Ambassador Amos Midzi described the late Cde Masawi as a dedicated and fearless man who worked hard before and after the liberation struggle which saw him rise through the ranks to become the Governor and Resident Minister of Mashonaland Central Province, amongst other positions he held.

“I knew Cde Masawi from way back as we both stayed in Mbare during the 1970s, he was committed to the party which saw him rise through the ranks as he was committed to strengthening the party structures countrywide,” said Ambassador Midzi.

Other Zanu PF members in Harare described Cde Masawi’s death as a sad loss that has created a void that will be difficult to fill.

They said Cde Masawi was a consistent and patriotic party cadre who will be remembered for recruiting and mobilising the youth to join the liberation struggle.

“He was a committed party cadre who served the party from a tender age and played a crucial role in mobilising youth in Harare to join the liberation struggle,” said Cde Tendai Savanhu, a Zanu PF Politburo member.

The Zanu PF Mashonaland Central Province has since recommended that the Politburo declare Cde Masawi a national hero.
