The Marondera Municipality has been blamed for failing to act timeoulsy in the management of its drainage system which has caused damages to the town’s roads.

There was heated debate at the Marondera full council meeting when Councilors Rodwell Makoni ward 8, Maxwell Manyere ward 5 and Maria Nhemachena ward 1 accused the management led by Town Clerk Josiah Musuwo for failing to act timeoulsy to fix the poor drainage system which has resulted in roads being swept away by rains leading to loss of property.

Residents of Nyameni lost property worth thousands of dollars after roads were washed away due to the poor drainage system.

Marondera Municipality benefitted from the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme to the tune of $2.7 million.

These funds which were inadequate saw some roads being tarred while others were left out thus affecting its drainage system.
