Residents from Rusike Phase 3 in Marondera are up in arms against the local authority over failure to provide basic services.
The residents are accusing the Josiah Musuwo led Marondera Municipality of playing hide and seek with them regarding the provision of water and sewer reticulation as well as serviced roads.
The residents, who were led by their representative, Mr Macky Dhliwayo handed over their petition at the municipal head office as the town clerk was said to be away.
“We are not happy with what has been done by the Marondera Municipality. We have tried to engage them but they have not been forthcoming, that is why we have resorted to demonstrating,” said Mr Dhliwayo.
The Rusike Phase 3 project was developed by a private developer who is alleged to have handed it over to Marondera Municipality.
The area has no proper roads, while residents are using pit latrines and wells for water and sanitation with others relying on borehole water.
Contacted for comment, Mr Musuwo said he could not comment as he was yet to receive the petition.
