Government has urged the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) to come up with a think tank to assist in the development of marketing strategies aimed at attracting foreign direct investment into the country.
Zimbabwe which is targeting foreign direct investment of above $2 billion per annum has prioritised the implementation of the national branding concept as part of efforts to manage perceptions about the domestic market.
Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Mike Bimha challenged MAZ to complement government efforts in unlocking capital inflows by coming up with sound marketing strategies.
MAZ president Mr Agrippa Mugwagwa said the association is aware of the central role marketing is expected to play in the growth of the economy and pledged to take seriously the appeal from government for marketers to support the economic development initiatives.
The 9th MAZ annual convention is being held under the theme, “The Changing Face of Marketing: Towards Organisation and Economic Transformation”.
