The Level 4 and CAF C licensed coach and former Warriors Captain says he has accepted his reappointment with an open heart, despite having thrown in the towel just a few months back citing differences in principles.

“I had resigned yes but I am a Zimbabwean and my passion for the Warriors made me accept my reappointment and I promise I will give my best to ensure Zimbabwe qualifies,” said Mapeza.

Mapeza shared optimism going into Zimbabwe’s next AFCON qualifier against the Eagles of Mali, hinting it is a crucial fixture that will decide the fate for the Warriors.

“I know my team but all I can say is the Mali match is a crucial decider that will define our destiny,” Mapeza added.

Mapeza will be ably assisted by reigning championship winners coach, Joey Antipas and Richard Tswatswa as goalkeepers coach, while Sharif Mussa has bounced back as Team Manager.
