Warriors head coach, Norman Mapeza says his charges’ 2-nil victory over Chipolopolo was a good training game that afforded him a closer judgment ahead of September’s do or die fixture against Liberia. After watching his charges triumph 2-nil over neighbours Zambia, coach Mapeza expressed satisfaction on his midfield performance which has been an area of concern.
Spoilt with choice upfront, the Warriors mentor had an opportunity to try out almost all his weaponry, including the midfield. With just enough flair to get a win, Mapeza says the midfield was mobile enough to his satisfaction.
While Nyasha Mushekwi and Thomas Sweswe will miss the September tie, Mapeza admits the duo’s absence will be felt but he will not lose sleep over it as there are enough replacements.
On 4 September, the Zimbabwe Warriors will face Liberia in a crucial match where a win will resurrect hope for another dance with Africa’s big boys at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon-Equatorial guinea next year.
