Manyame Queens and Manyame Falcons under 16 teams cemented their dominance in handball when they were crowned winners of the ladies and men Champions of Champions Tournament respectively.
Under 16 handball teams across the country’s provinces clashed against each other in a Champions of Champions handball tournament that was staged at Southerton Primary School in the capital to assess how the sport is faring in some provinces.
In the end it was Manyame Falcons and Manyame Queens who were crowned winners.
Masvingo and BEC were runners up in the ladies and men’s categories respectively.
Zimbabwe Handball Federation (ZHF) president Stewart Sanhewe said the level of competition displayed by the under 16 provincial teams is an indication that setting up a national league will succeed.
Sanhewe said as the ZHF executive they will be meeting to iron out outstanding issues on the setting up of the league.
The ZHF president said the tournament had exposed talent that can be groomed for the 2024 Olympics.
