The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) has begun the process of determining this year’s weighted capacity utilisation.
Three hundred and fifty manufacturing companies will come under the spotlight as the CZI seeks to establish this year’s weighted industrial capacity utilisation.
Industrial capacity utilisation is measured to ascertain the expansion levels or the failure by local firms to increase production.
In an interview in the capital, CZI chief economist Mrs Dephine Mazambani Mutafera said the process is already underway and results will be released next month, adding that a number of issues will be considered.
The local manufacturing industry is expected to have bridged the 50 percent industrial capacity utilisation this year owing to the existence of the Statutory Instrument 64 of 2016.
Generally, a number of firms had a good first half of the year in terms of business expansion if employment numbers are anything to go by, while some companies have opened shop locally in response to the SI 64.
