The creation of a database for business entities that operate in Manicaland will foster synergies and is critical in growing their footprint.
Markets especially for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) have proven elusive.
However, creation of a database of SMEs as well as established businesses in the province will spur linkages with the potential of opening up opportunities said an economist, Mr Vince Musewe.
Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa noted that the SMEs sector is instrumental in poverty reduction and economic growth and their needs are high on government’s agenda.
Globally, SMEs have been found to be a critical pillar in the growth of many economies, accounting for over 90 percent of enterprise and over 60 percent of employment.
Apart from being the origins of larger firms, they are also the source of innovation, supplying larger companies as they also come up with their own product lines.
