At a time Zimbabwe is scouring the globe for investors, efforts are underway to ascertain requirements of firms in Manicaland Province in order to restart as well as scale up operations.
The story of the industry in Manicaland certainly makes for some interesting reading.
On one side of the coin there are some firms that say they have invested millions of dollars which can only be recouped with more support from government, and on the other hand, there are some entities that require a shot in the arm to restart operations.
Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa said there is need for a capital injection to ensure the province regains its status as an industrial hub.
At its peak, the industry in Manicaland employed thousands of individuals.
In many instances what remains are factory shells.
What is however evident is that there is a zeal that the industry in Manicaland can be great once again.
