The 2017 edition of the Bob 93 Manicaland Chapter Sports Festival saw over 120 teams participating in seven sporting disciplines as youths celebrated the life of President Robert Mugabe.

The two day featured sport codes which include handball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, netball and chess.

Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Cde Mandi Chimene took the opportunity to challenge youths to use the tournament as a reference point where as future leaders they can debate on positive national issues.

The chairman of the Bob Sports Festival, Tendai Zhakata said it is imperative for youths to celebrate the life of President Mugabe through sport in order to nurture sport development.

Gaza High came first in the boys’ handball with St Mathias winning the girls category.

In volleyball Nyashanu High were the girl’s winners with Bonda Mission in second place while the boys’ trophy went to Mutare Boys High.

St Columbus won the girls soccer top accolade with Mutare Boys scooping the men’s trophy.

Mutare Boys were to rule the roost again in basketball where they came first with their sister school Mutare Girls High winning the ladies basketball trophy.
