Murewa South independent candidate, Mr Noah Mangondo says one of his main priorities if elected into office is to fight for Macheke to be accorded town status.
Mr Mangondo told his supporters during a rally at Nyazema suburb in Macheke that he wants Macheke to be accorded town status because it is one of the fastest growing urban settlements in Mashonaland East province.

He also outlined his constituency development plan which will include economic growth, agricultural development and infrastructural development.
Macheke is in ward 29 of Murewa rural district council.
Mr Mangondo was accompanied by his running mate, former Macheke councilor, Josephat Kamwendo, who is also running as an independent council candidate.
