malaria midlands.jpgThe Midlands Province has made significant strides in reducing malaria prevalence and mortality rates in the past two years.
The Acting Provincial Medical Director, Dr Patron Mataure said the province has recorded a decline in malaria outbreaks as a result of new strategies being employed to control the outbreak.

Dr Mataure said in the past two years, they have been using the provincial team approach where malaria control teams in the province focus on malaria hot spots first, covering 92% of malaria prone areas.

The province has begun training teams for malaria control, expected to be deployed by the first of next month.

Malaria remains a serious health concern in Zimbabwe contributing 30% of outpatient attendance in hospitals.
