Checheche Growth Point now have a new look after part of the central business area was tarred following the disbursement of US$200 000 by Chipinge Rural District Council as part of the initial road tar surfacing programme.
At a time when most local authorities are grappling to maintain their tarred roads, Chipinge RDC has spearheaded the tarring of Checheche central business road network, giving the growth point a major facelift.
Tar surfacing of Checheche Growth Point brought joy to residents, motorists and business owners who said due to the current rains, movement had become difficult.
Checheche Growth Point manager Robert Ziracha says an additional US$200 000 is being mobilised to continue with the tar surfacing programme.
The council chairperson Councillor Phineas Muzamana says the road surfacing project was long overdue.
The project is in line with the growth point’s bid to provide quality infrastructure and attract more investments.
