Local companies have received orders worth US$3 million for participating at the Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show (ZACS) in the past two years.

Local firms have become perennials participants at the annual ZACS with a view to maximise exports under the ZimTrade banner.

This year 12 firms from agriculture to construction took part at the annual event with five of the companies being small and medium enterprises and reports coming from Zambia show that lucrative deals have been sealed.

ZimTrade board chairman, Mr Lance Jena said local firms have penetrated the market with goods worth more than US$3 million having being ordered in the last two editions.

Zambia is among the top five countries on the continent that have an appetite for local products which proves that local manufacturing firms have the capacity to produce high quality products.

At this year’s ZACS, ZimTrade scooped the third prize for the best export promotion exhibit.
