The 2019 Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR) has rolled into life in the Spanish capital with Zimbabwe among the 165 countries taking part at the premier expo which is a meeting point for the global tourism community.
Madrid is once again the centre of attraction with the global travel and tourism industry descending on the vibrant city for one of the biggest tourism expos.
Voted among the top three must visit destinations in the world for 2019 by lonely planet, Zimbabwe is among the 165 countries represented at the tourism fair.
The Zimbabwean delegation is bullish of making use of the platform to attract investments and to assure the different source markets that the country remains safe and hospitable destination.
A total of 10 000 companies from different regions across the globe are exhibiting at the 2019 edition of FITUR which continues to get bigger and better each year.
The country’s tourism marketing body, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is optimistic of a successful event which will provide a platform for the country to outline the positive reforms in the tourism sector and to attract investments.
“We are so excited to be participating at the premier tourism expo and are looking forward to making use of the platform to articulate the positive reforms in the tourism sector in Zimbabwe,” said the ZTA Acting CEO Mr Givemore Chidzidzi .
The Zimbabwean delegation will also participate at the 10th edition of the Forum for Investment and Tourism Business in Africa (investor) jointly organised by UNWTO, FITUR and CASA Africa.
The 2019 Madrid Tourism Expo has afforded the global tourism family an opportunity to celebrate the continued rebound of the industry after a solid performance in 2018 which saw international tourists’ arrivals surging by 6 percent to 1.4 billion.
For the next three days the tourism community will seek to come up with strategies to sustain the rebound of the industry and to ensure that the growth is both inclusive and shared growth.
