The upgrading of Mabvuku Hospital has been hailed as a positive development that will offer residents an opportunity to access an improved range of medical services.

The residents of Mabvuku and surrounding areas, who spoke to the ZBC News on the sidelines of a tour by the City of Harare officials and partners who assisted in upgrading of the hospital, said they can now access dental, maternal and other services at affordable rates.

The Harare City Council Director of Health Services, Dr Prosper Chonzi and the Acting Town Clerk, Mrs Josephine Ncube, said the local authority remains committed to ensuring more health facilities are upgraded in the capital, with Kuwadzana and Hatcliffe earmarked for similar facelifts.

The upgrading of Mabvuku Hospital, where around US$600 000 was invested, is being used by the City of Harare as model in a bid to improve access to health facilities as well as to ensure that affordable prices are levied to residents.

The hospital now boasts of consulting rooms, a theatre, a pharmacy and a dental unit, among other new facilities.
