Lupane district is set to embark on the construction of a better schools programme in Zimbabwe BSZP resource centre aimed at improving the quality of education in the area and facilitating the implementation of the new curriculum.

The Lupane Better Schools in Zimbabwe programme BSZP resource centre scheduled to be operationalised by September 2020 will have twelve offices, state of the art computer laboratory, a kitchen, library, conference room and other facilities to be utilised by pupils, teachers as well as members of the community.

Guest of honour at the ground breaking ceremony held at Lupane Business Centre Engineer Ndaba Dube expressed confidence the centre will facilitate the implementation of the new curriculum.

Matabeleland North provincial education director Mr Jabulani Mpofu bemoaned the disappointing pass rate in most schools in the district and is upbeat the centre will be put to good use.

Stakeholders who graced the ceremony highlighted the need for the community to pull resources together and ensure that the project is successfully implemented.

Matabeleland North Province currently has one BSZP centre in Tsholotsho district.

Under the BSZP government is encouraging districts across the country to invest in infrastructure development which will assist learners and teachers in realising quality education.
