The Meteorological Services Department says farmers must closely monitor the weather in light of the low temperatures being experienced, particularly in the morning.

Head Public Weather Services at the Meteorological Services Department Mr Tich Zinyemba says in some cases, especially in the mornings, temperatures are as low as four degrees celsius with incidences of frost, hence farmers must closely monitor their livestock as well as horticultural produce.

Mr Zinyemba says there have also been cases where rains have been recorded, particularly in the Eastern Highlands, a phenomenon that may continue in the next few days.

The Meteorological Services Department also allayed fears that this year’s temperatures are on the low side, saying the averages have not changed over a long term period.
