Benjamin and Courtney Lock progressed to the second round of the ITF Futures second leg after securing straight set wins at Harare Sports Club today.
The Lock brothers were impressive in ITF action at Harare Sports Club this afternoon.
Courtney came face to face with Dhruv Sunish on centre court.
The first set proved a marathon with Courtney holding his nerve to clinch the first set 7-6 in 1 hour 14 minutes.
He maintained the positive momentum in the second set as he raced into a 3-0 lead.
Courtney would go on to win the second set 6-3 to win the match 7-6, 6-3 and progress to the second round.
Also in action was Benjamin who overpowered Nigeria’s Joseph Ubon.
Benjamin who won the first leg remained on course for another possible win after overcoming Ubon 6-1, 6-0 to progress to the last 16.
In court 3, Muzi Sibanda was eliminated from the ITF Futures after a 6-2, 6-3 straight sets defeat.
Zimbabwe’s other representative Mark Chigaazira also fell in the first round after 6-3, 6-4 loss to William Bushamuka of the United States.
Play resumes tomorrow with players vying for places in the quarter finals.
