sanganaihlanganani expo 05-10-10.jpgThe 3rd edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Africa Fair ended in the capital last week with local stakeholders clinching business deals valued at US$300 million.


The expo, which attracted 490 exhibitors from across the globe, has been applauded for offering a platform to strategically position the tourism industry for the world market.
Addressing a news conference in the capital, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Chief Operating Officer, Mr Givemore Chidzidzi said besides business generated, his organisation is happy with scores made towards perception management and image building.


“As ZTA, we have scored successes towards image building and perception management. Business generated during the fair amounts to US$200 million as transactions were made between exhibitors and buyers,” said Mr Chidzidzi.


ZTA used US$1,5 million during the fair to host buyers and other logistics with US$520 000 caming from the fiscus.


The authority accrued US$80 000 from exhibitors’ participating fees.


This year’s Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Africa Fair was held under the theme: ‘Green Tourism: Anchoring Economic Growth,’ which saw the launch of the brand: ‘Zimbabwe-A World of Wonders.’
