The Roman Catholic Church in Zengeza 3, Chitungwiza, St Agnes Parish premiered a Christian film this Saturday which portrays the work and life of Jesus Christ but at the same time using the event to fundraise towards the construction of their new church building.

The 51 minute film created and directed by members of the Parish in order to preach and spread the message about Jesus Christ in a unique manner.

At the launch of the movie at the church’s building which is under construction in Zengeza, Head of the branch, Father Jimmy Nyangadi said the initiative will help in fundraising for the completion of the church.

“From this fundraising, we intend to raise over $140 000 so that we complete the church,” he said.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, who is also a devout Catholic, applauded the role churches play in building communities but implored the churches not to be donor-dependant but source resources locally for their activities and projects.

“We have the resources and this launch shows that we can do it on our own instead of looking up to donors for everything we do,” he said.

Actors in the movie were drawn from within the church and played various roles including that of Jesus Christ and his mother, Maria.

The event was graced by members of the church and community members who paid entrance fees which will be utilised for the completion of the church.
