Local entrepreneur Zodwa Mkandla scooped the International Businesswoman of the Year Award in London over the weekend, beating a host of successful business people across the continent.
The International Businesswoman of the Year Award under the Women4Africa 2017 banner is meant to recognise African women who are making a difference in the society and the award for a local entrepreneur shows the impact they have on the global stage.
Mkandla is the founder and managing director of Traverze Travel which became operational in 2003 and is one of the leading leisure and business travel management companies in Harare.
Speaking to ZBC News from London, Ms Mkandla said the international recognition puts Zimbabwe on the global map regarding competitiveness, adding that there is need to continue working hard for the growth of the country’s economy.
Women4Africa provides a platform for the finest and accomplished individuals of African descent to be celebrated for their contributions in their various fields.
Traverze Travel has been on a growth path expanding its footprint into neighbouring countries such as Zambia and South Africa.
