11:51 – The President urges opposition politicians to remain peaceful and do that which is in the public interest.

11:49 – ED- “Let us move forward with the same determination and single mind, after all we share the same dream for the country.”

11:41 – Cde Mnangagwa says the land reform programme was one of the fruits of the liberation struggle and since it is ‘now behind us, it is irreversible.’ He adds that the task ahead is to fully utilise the land to increase agricultural production.

11:38 – The President says it is now time to put behind the elections and work unitedly to achieve ‘the Zimbabwe we want.’

11:36 – He condemns the MDC Alliance supporters for the post election violence that led to the death of 6 people on 1 August.

11:35 – The President hails the people of Zimbabwe for speaking loudly to the world when the country held the harmonised elections. He says the elections were free, fair, transparent and credible elections held in the full glare of international observers and global media.

10:08 – People have started trickling into the national shrine in Harare for the main event.

10:06 – It’s Heroes Day today and the main celebrations are at the National Heroes Acre in Harare, while provincial heroes shrines will host the celebrations in the country’s other 9 provinces.
