16:21 – The President ends his speech and the party’s National Chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri gives a vote of thanks.

16:05 – He says the Land Commission is going around the country to regularise the land distribution, adding that those with many farms will be left with one and those with big farms we see them being downsized.

16:00 – President Mnangagwa unpacks the Command Agriculture initiative and how it will ensure food security in the country.

15:56 – He adds that Zanu PF has always respected traditional leaders even during the liberation struggle and will continue doing so. 

15:52 – The President says the party leadership under the new dispensation values that power is derived from the people, hence the leadership to deliver.

15:48 – He says while only Chamisa, out of the 23 presidential candidates, is crying foul, Zanu PF is moving ahead planning for the future of Zimbabwe.

15:45 – Cde Mnangagwa says it is shocking that MDC Alliance is raising accusations against ZEC, which is a creation of the constitution and constituted by a parliamentary committee which MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa was part of.  

15:37 – The President says the government is committed to bring about a turnaround in the country, adding that this would be possible only if the people are peaceful and united.

15:35 – Cde Mnangagwa says he is happy with the overwhelming turnout, saying the numbers in Manicaland surpasses those recorded in any other province even Masvingo.

15:34 – No party can dislodge Zanu PF from power: ED

15:32 – The President notes the prevailing democracy in the country, saying all political parties are campaigning freely nationwide unlike in the past.

15:30 After observing protocol, Cde Mnangagwa says: “We thank God that Cde Oppah Muchinguri survived the attack in Bulawayo. We are happy that Cde Mohadi is now back in the country but two other cadres are still critical. Zanu-PF is a party with a history. This is the people’s party,”

15:29 – President Mnangagwa begins his address.

15:25 – VP chiwenga invites all Zanu PF candidates in the province to the podium and after greeting President Mnangagwa, the hold hands in unity for the chanting of the party slogan. 

15:03 – The Vice President constantly refers to President Mnangagwa as the ‘anointed’ in his speech.

14:59 –  VP Chiwenga chronicles the history of President Mnangagwa from his birth in 1942 under Chief Mapanzure in Zvishavane.

14:56 – The Vice President, Retired General Dr Constantino Chiwenga takes to the podium to introduce the guest of honour, President Mnangagwa. He starts by thanking the party’s provincial leadership led by Madiro for properly organising the rally.

14:50 – The Zanu PF National Political Commissar, Retired Lt. General Engelbert Rugeje introduces Politburo members and other senior party members present. The party’s National Chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri, who sustained injuries during bombing in Bulawayo last month, is in attendance.

14:49 – The Zanu PF Deputy National Political Commissar, Omega Hungwe is the MC and she invites the party’s Chairperson for Manicaland Province, Mike Madiro to give welcome remarks. 

14:48 – Earlier: President Mnangagwa met the business people from Manicaland Province at Golden Peacock hotel.

14:46 – We get an opening prayer, followed by a traditional ritual.

14:42 – The President arrives and proceedings begin with the singing of the National Anthem.
